The Maine School and Library Network (MSLN) is a service connecting schools and libraries in the state to the Internet at little or no cost through the use of federal and state funding.

Networkmaine has partnered with MECnet to provide MSLN participants with an affordable firewall offering as part of high-bandwidth MSLN services.  The Joebox is a Linux-based router, firewall, and CIPA-compliant web filtering security appliance.  MECnet has created a Networkmaine Edition of the Joebox to meet the needs of the MSLN project and is provided to many MSLN participants at little or not cost.
